Bearing Repacks

Regular bearing maintenance is crucial for extending the life of your vehicle’s components. Our expert team offers thorough bearing repacks to ensure smooth operation and reduce the risk of failure, keeping your vehicle running safely and efficiently.

Bearing failures often happen due to poor lubrication, making regular repacking essential maintenance. It’s a quick, cost-effective alternative to replacing the bearings. If they’re still in good shape, fresh grease can make a big difference.

The process involves removing the bearings, cleaning them with brake or parts cleaner, inspecting for signs of wear, pitting, or scoring, then repacking them with grease before reinstalling. If the bearings are smooth and undamaged, repacking is usually enough to keep them in top condition. This simple maintenance can extend their lifespan. We recommend repacking every 2-3 years or every 10,000 km, whichever comes first.

Tow Bar and Base plate installations

Whether you’re gearing up for a long road trip or need reliable towing solutions, our tow bar and base plate installation service ensures that your vehicle is prepared to handle the extra load with safety and precision.

The Go-to name in Flat Towing since, well, Flat Towing.

  • Baseplates are custom-designed for each vehicle, bolting directly into the chassis.
  • Design and engineered to use as many attachment points as possible.
  • Most Blue Ox baseplates feature removable tabs that leave a clean look when the vehicle is not being towed.
  • Requires no welding for installation.
  • Baseplates are hidden beneath the vehicle body.
  • A three-year limited warranty backs all baseplates.

A baseplate is a durable bracket mounted to the front of a vehicle, allowing secure connection to a tow bar. Designed to distribute the stress of towing and braking evenly, baseplates are essential for flat towing (all four wheels on the ground) to prevent damage to the towed vehicle. Discover how to tow safely with the right baseplate.

You need a baseplate and tow bar when towing a vehicle with all four wheels on the ground (flat towing). This is especially common when pulling a vehicle behind an RV or transporting a second vehicle without another driver. Flat towing without a baseplate will likely damage the towed vehicle and creates significant safety risks for other drivers.

Custom Spring Building & Repair

We specialize in creating custom springs that meet the unique requirements of your vehicle. Whether it’s for a heavy-duty truck or a trailer, our custom spring building and repair services will ensure that your vehicle’s suspension system performs at its best.

Custom spring building involves shaping and drilling blank spring material to meet the specific needs of your project or vehicle. Whether you’re upgrading the spring pack to support the added weight of a new deck and welder for your truck, or adding overload springs to prevent sagging when towing a holiday trailer, custom spring work is essential when standard options won’t suffice.

We specialize in creating custom spring packs for any application, from replacing obsolete packs to building entirely new systems. This process includes forging and rolling the spring eye to fit specific bushing sizes, and carefully arching the leaves to meet the required spring rate.

For spring repair, we replace broken leaf springs, ensuring the new leaf is custom-arched to match the existing pack, maintaining even ride height. We start by inspecting the vehicle’s overall condition, considering its age, mileage, and purpose. Based on this evaluation and the customer’s budget, we determine whether a full replacement or just repairing the broken leaf is the best solution.

Custom U-Bolts

When you need durable and reliable U-bolts for your suspension system, look no further. We custom-build U-bolts to fit the exact specifications of your vehicle, providing a perfect fit and enhanced performance every time.

U-bolts are essential for providing a stable and secure joint in a variety of applications. Custom U-bolts are made to precise sizes and shapes to meet the specific needs of your project. In suspension systems, they secure the leaf spring to the axle, ensuring proper axle alignment and maintaining correct suspension geometry and driveline angles. In addition to absorbing shock, they help maintain optimal spring stiffness.

We custom-bend U-bolts, ranging from 3/8” to 1 3/8” diameter with SAE fine threads, making them ideal for suspension, leaf spring, and body mounting applications, along with many other uses.

Our U-bolts are bent cold using a hydraulic bender to preserve the metal’s grain orientation, ensuring maximum strength. We offer various shapes, including square top, semi-round top, and round top, all with rolled threads. This process makes the non-threaded part slightly smaller in diameter, resulting in stronger U-bolts that are more resistant to stripping or breaking.

5th wheel hitch installation

For those looking to tow large trailers or RVs, a 5th wheel hitch is essential. Our 5th wheel hitch installation service ensures a solid, secure connection between your truck and trailer, providing enhanced stability and weight distribution. Designed for heavy-duty towing, we’ll install your 5th wheel hitch to ensure maximum safety and reliability on the road, allowing you to tow with confidence.

We can find fifth wheel hitch installation kits designed specifically for your tow vehicle, and these would be preferred over universal kits as they often allow you to complete the installation without having to drill any new holes into your tow vehicle and simplifies the project. Common popular 5th wheel hitch brands we would recommend include Husky, Reese and Curt.

You should never install your rail kit over a plastic bed liner. However, if your truck bed has a sprayed-in liner, you are okay to install. The rail kit is essentially the foundation of your hitch. Once we have determined where your rails should be positioned, depending on the year of your truck, we will drill your bolts and attach your brackets in order to secure the rails to the frame of your truck.

Now that your fifth wheel hitch is properly fastened into your truck bed, you can now install a brake controller harness. This mechanism allows you to engage your RV’s electrical braking system either in proportion to the truck’s brake engagement, or slightly delayed. Without a brake controller harness, you will have difficulty coming to a complete stop when necessary.
